Read-only by design

A connected assistant can look things up but never change anything. It reads visibility, competitors, citations, sentiment, stored answers, AI crawler and referral traffic, Action Center recommendations, prompts and competitors. It cannot add or change prompts, competitors, settings or billing. To make changes, use the dashboard — or, on Enterprise, the REST API.

Signing in

The MCP server only accepts people who sign in; API keys don’t work with it. When your assistant connects, it opens a RankRaft page that shows:
  • the assistant’s name, and its verified domain when it has one;
  • where access will be sent;
  • a warning when that is an app on your own computer;
  • the organization it will reach.
Click Allow. The assistant then reads data for you, in the organization you were signed in to. Any member of an organization on a paid plan can connect one.

Removing an assistant

Open Settings → API & AI assistants → Connected assistants and click Disconnect. It stops working on its next request. Members can remove assistants they connected; owners can remove any. An assistant also stops working when the person who connected it leaves the organization, and while billing is paused or canceled.

Answer text is data

The search_answers tool returns excerpts of what AI engines answered. Those answers can quote web pages written by anyone, so the server labels them as quoted output and tells your assistant not to follow instructions inside them.

Limits and errors

Each connection may make 120 requests a minute.
