# Data handling and privacy

> What RankRaft AI collects from your site, how it's stored and how long it's kept.

## What we collect from your site

Through your integration, request metadata only: time, hostname, path, method, status, response size, the visitor's IP address and user agent, the referrer and the query string. Never cookies, form data, page content or logged-in user data.

## What we store

| Data | Stored |

| AI crawler, search bot and AI referral requests | As individual events: time, host, path (no query string), page type, bot or referral source, verification state, status, method, country |
| Human visits and other bots | **Counted per day only.** Never stored individually |
| Visitor IP addresses | Only as a salted hash, with a salt that rotates daily, so hashes can't be linked across days |
| User agents | Only as a hash, plus the recognised bot name |
| Query strings and referrers | Used to classify the request, then discarded |
| Requests to private paths | Never stored. Checkout, cart and admin paths are private by default |

## Retention

| Data | Kept for |

| Individual request records | 13 months |
| Delivery log | 90 days |
| Daily totals, answers and scores | For the life of the site |
| Data after cancellation | 13 months |

## AI answers

Answers are collected from public AI engines by asking your prompts. We never send your private data, customer data or site content to an AI engine as part of a scan.
