# Prompt categories

> The five kinds of buyer question RankRaft AI tracks, with examples.

Every prompt belongs to one category, so you can see where in the buying journey AI recommends you and where it doesn't.

| Category | The buyer is… | Starter examples |
| - | - | - |
| **Discovery** | looking for options, without a brand in mind | "best *category*", "top *category* in *market*", "what *category* do people recommend" |
| **Comparison** | weighing you against others | "*brand* vs alternatives", "is *brand* better than other *category*" |
| **Alternatives** | looking for something other than a named brand | "alternatives to *brand*", "cheaper *category*" |
| **Pricing** | checking cost | "how much does *brand* cost", "*category* pricing" |
| **Brand** | asking about you by name | "what is *brand*", "is *brand* any good", "*brand* reviews" |

Prompts you write yourself during onboarding are filed under **Your prompts** and counted as **Discovery**.

When RankRaft AI reads your site during onboarding, it drafts prompts tailored to your business across these categories. If it can't draft any, it falls back to the starter examples above, filled in with your brand, category and market.

## How many prompts

| Plan | Active prompts per site |
| - | - |
| Free trial | 3 |
| Basic | 20 |
| Growth | 40 |
| Enterprise | Up to 500 |

You need at least 3. Each active prompt is asked on every engine in your plan, every day, so *answers per day = prompts × engines*. Prompts are limited to 300 characters.
