# About Agent Analytics

> See which AI crawlers read your site, which pages they read, whether they are genuine, and which people arrive from AI answers.

Agent Analytics shows how AI systems interact with your website at the request level. AI answer engines don't run JavaScript the way a browser does, so ordinary web analytics never sees them. RankRaft AI reads your server-side traffic instead, either from your CDN or from your web server, and tells you:

* **Which AI bots visit.** GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended and more than 40 other crawlers, grouped by provider and by purpose.
* **What they read.** Every crawled path, classified into a page type such as product page, pricing or blog.
* **Whether they are genuine.** Each hit from a provider that publishes its IP ranges is checked against those ranges, so a spoofed `GPTBot` is flagged rather than counted as OpenAI.
* **Who arrives from AI answers.** People who click through from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and other assistants are counted as AI referrals, together with the page they landed on.
* **Whether you block AI by accident.** The AI access check tests your `robots.txt`, meta robots tags and live server responses for the main AI crawlers.

## How it works

1. An [integration](/agent-analytics/integrations/overview) sends request metadata (path, status, user agent, IP address, referrer) to RankRaft AI.
2. Each request is classified as an **AI crawler**, **search bot**, **AI referral**, **human** or **other bot**.
3. AI crawlers, search bots and AI referrals are stored as individual events, which you can drill into in the [Request log](/agent-analytics/dashboard/logs).
4. Human visits and generic bots are **counted, not logged**. RankRaft AI keeps a daily total so that *AI share of traffic* is accurate without storing your visitors' requests.

## Traffic types

| Traffic type | What it is | Stored as an event |
| - | - | - |
| AI crawler | A bot run by an AI company: training crawlers, answer-engine indexers and live user-triggered fetches | Yes |
| Search bot | A classic search indexer (Googlebot, bingbot, Applebot, DuckDuckBot, Baiduspider, YandexBot and similar) | Yes, unless you turn it off |
| AI referral | A person who clicked a link in an AI answer | Yes |
| Human | Everyone else using a browser | Counted per day only |
| Other bot | Uptime monitors, SEO tools, scripts and unidentified crawlers | Counted per day only |

## Bot types

Every AI crawler is tagged with the job it is doing:

| Type | Meaning | Examples |
| - | - | - |
| **AI assistant** | A real-time fetch made because a user asked a question | ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User, MistralAI-User |
| **AI training** | A crawl that collects training data | GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider |
| **Indexing** | Search or answer-engine indexing | OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot, Googlebot |
| **AI agent** | Agentic browsing on a user's behalf | Reserved for agent traffic as providers start identifying it |

## What you need

* A RankRaft AI site, created during [onboarding](/getting-started/quickstart).
* One integration. Pick based on how your site is hosted:

<CardGroup cols={3}>
  <Card title="Cloudflare Worker" icon="cloudflare" href="/agent-analytics/integrations/cloudflare-worker">
    Sees every crawler, including cached pages.
  </Card>

  <Card title="WordPress plugin" icon="wordpress" href="/agent-analytics/wordpress/introduction">
    Server-side logging on any WordPress host.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Snippet or server logs" icon="code" href="/agent-analytics/integrations/website-snippet">
    For any other stack.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  Answer tracking (AI Visibility, Competitors, Action Center) works without any integration. Agent Analytics is the part of RankRaft AI that needs traffic data.
